Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information SRA News (https://sranews.com/) may collect when you visit or contact us, how that information is used, and what choices you have. We have tried to keep it plain and specific to how this website actually works.

By using the website, you accept the practices described here. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the website.

1. Who We Are

SRA News is an independent digital publication that provides news and information for readers in India. When this policy says “we”, “us” or “our”, it means the team that runs SRA News. Our contact details are at the end of this page.

2. Information You Choose to Give Us

You can read SRA News without creating an account or telling us anything about yourself. At the moment, we collect personal information only when you contact us yourself.

If you write to us at sranewspost@gmail.com, whether it is a general question, a news tip, a correction request, a business enquiry or a website problem, we receive the information you put in your message. This may include:

  • Your name and email address
  • The content of your message
  • Any links, documents, screenshots or other attachments you send
  • Any other details you decide to share, such as a phone number

We use this information only to read and respond to your message, to look into what you have told us (for example, to check a correction or a news tip), and to keep a reasonable record of our correspondence.

Please share only what is needed. Do not send sensitive personal documents, such as Aadhaar or bank details, unless we specifically ask for them.

If we later add features that collect more information, such as comments, newsletters or registration, we will update this policy before or when those features start.

3. Technical Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the website, some technical information is collected automatically by your browser, our web server and the tools described in this policy. This usually does not identify you personally, but it may include:

  • Your IP address
  • Browser type and version, device type and operating system
  • Pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, and how long you stay
  • The website or search result that led you to us
  • Approximate location, such as city or state, usually worked out from your IP address
  • Screen size, language settings and similar device details

This information helps us keep the website running properly, understand which content is useful, and fix technical problems.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your browser or device. Similar technologies work in the same way for similar purposes.

SRA News may use the following:

  • Analytics cookies: These are set through Google Analytics (see Section 6) to help us understand how visitors use the website.
  • Technical and performance cookies: The website uses a caching plugin called LiteSpeed Cache to load pages faster. Depending on how it is configured, it may store small technical cookies or similar data in your browser to deliver pages correctly. These are used for site performance, not to build a profile of you.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. You can delete cookies already stored, or block them for this or all websites. Note that blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website load or work. Settings differ between browsers, so check the help section of the browser you use.

At the time of writing, we do not run a separate cookie consent tool. If we add one, this section will be updated.

5. How We Use Information

Depending on the type of information, we may use it to:

  • Respond to your emails, tips, corrections and enquiries
  • Verify and follow up on information you send us
  • Understand how readers find and use the website, so we can improve our content and layout
  • Keep the website secure, stable and working properly
  • Identify and fix technical problems
  • Meet legal obligations, where applicable

We do not use your information to make decisions about you that have legal or similar effects.

6. Website Analytics

We use the following Google services to understand and manage the website:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4): This collects usage information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser details, and how visitors arrive at the website. It may use cookies or similar identifiers. The reports we see are mostly summaries and statistics about groups of visitors, not information about named individuals.
  • Google Tag Manager (GTM): This is a tool we use to manage and load tags (such as the Google Analytics tag) on the website. Tag Manager itself does not collect analytics data, but it may cause other tags to run on the pages you visit.
  • Google Search Console: This is a tool for website owners to see how the website performs in Google Search, such as which search queries led to our pages and whether there are technical problems. It reports data about search performance. It is not a tracking tool placed on our visitors.

Google processes data collected through Analytics and Tag Manager under its own terms and privacy policy, which you can read on Google’s website. If you do not want your visit measured by Google Analytics, you can use Google’s browser opt-out add-on for Analytics, or block cookies and trackers through your browser settings.

7. Advertising and Other Third-Party Services

At the time of writing, SRA News does not use a third-party advertising network, and we do not use the other tools or services that would collect visitor information beyond those described in this policy.

If we start showing ads, using a newsletter service, adding social media embeds, comments, or any other third-party service that collects information from visitors, we will update this policy and describe what that service does.

We do not claim anything beyond this. If personal information is ever shared with a service provider or authority, it will be where needed to run the website, to handle a request you made, or where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information.

8. Third-Party Websites and External Links

Our articles and pages may contain links to other websites, such as official sources, social media posts, or other publications. We do not control these websites and are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. Once you leave SRA News, their own privacy policies apply. We encourage you to read them before sharing any personal information.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle, including using the access controls and security tools available for our website and email. However, no website or method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep this in mind when sending information to us.

10. Data Retention

We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed.

  • Emails and attachments: We keep them for as long as needed to handle your message and keep a record of it, such as for a correction or a story we are following up. After that, they may be deleted or archived.
  • Analytics data: This is kept according to the retention settings we choose in Google Analytics, and Google’s own policies apply to data held on its systems.

You can ask us to delete your correspondence (see Section 12), subject to any legal or editorial need to keep it.

11. Children’s Privacy

SRA News is a general news and information website and is not designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 without a parent’s or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please write to us and we will take steps to delete it.

12. Your Choices and Rights

You have choices about your information:

  • Cookies: You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, as explained in Section 4.
  • Analytics: You can use Google’s opt-out add-on or privacy tools in your browser.
  • Your messages: You can ask us to tell you what information we hold from your emails, to correct it, or to delete it.

To make such a request, write to sranewspost@gmail.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. We may need to confirm that the request is genuinely from you. We will consider your request in line with applicable law and any legitimate reason we may have to keep certain records.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change the tools we use or add new features to the website. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We suggest checking this page now and then. Your continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
