Write for Us

SRA News is an independent digital publication for readers in India. Alongside our own reporting, we are open to considering articles from writers, subject-matter experts and journalists who have something useful to tell our readers.

This page explains what we are looking for, how to send a submission, and what to expect. Please read it fully before you write to us. It will save time for both of us.

Who Can Contribute

You do not need to be a full-time journalist. We are open to:

  • Independent writers and freelancers
  • Working journalists and reporters
  • Students and researchers with a well-grounded perspective
  • Professionals who can explain their field clearly, such as in education, technology, business, health, sports or public affairs
  • Readers with first-hand knowledge of an issue that deserves attention

What matters is that you have something worth saying, that you can say it clearly, and that you can stand behind the facts.

Topics We May Consider

We cover subjects that matter to everyday life in India. We may consider pieces on:

  • Current affairs, politics and governance
  • Business, economy and personal finance (as general information)
  • Technology and digital services
  • Education, exams and careers
  • Health and lifestyle (as general awareness)
  • Sports and entertainment
  • Explainers that make a complex subject easier to understand

A good pitch is specific. “How a change in exam pattern affects first-time applicants” is stronger than a general piece on “education in India.” If your idea is local, regional or from your own field of work, and it has not been covered well elsewhere, we would especially like to hear it.

Content Requirements

An article we publish should:

  • Be original and written by you
  • Offer real value to readers, such as new information, clear explanation or informed perspective
  • Be factually responsible
  • Use plain, clear language
  • Carry a headline that accurately reflects the content
  • Use headings and short paragraphs where they help the reader
  • Avoid padding and repetition
  • Cite or link to reliable sources where relevant
  • Avoid misleading claims

Originality Requirement

Your submission must be your own work, written for SRA News. It should not have been published elsewhere, including on your own blog or social media, and it should not be under consideration by another publication at the same time. If part of it has appeared elsewhere, tell us at the time of submission.

We do not accept copied articles, rewritten versions of other people’s articles, or material assembled from other sources with only the wording changed. You may draw on public facts and other reporting, but the writing, analysis and structure must be yours, and borrowed material must be credited.

Accuracy and Sourcing

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit. Before sending it, please check names, dates, figures, quotations and claims.

  • Use reliable and, where possible, primary sources, such as official notifications, court orders, government data or original reports
  • Clearly separate facts from opinion
  • Attribute claims, statistics and quotations to their source
  • Do not state rumours, unverified viral messages or speculation as fact
  • For sensitive subjects, such as crime, communities, health or personal tragedy, take extra care and avoid anything that could identify a minor or harm someone’s dignity

We may ask you for the sources behind specific claims. If we cannot verify an important point, we may remove it or decline the article.

Article Formatting Guidelines

  • Length: Quality matters more than word count. Most articles work well between 600 and 1,500 words, but a shorter or longer piece is fine if the subject needs it.
  • Headline: Clear and accurate. Please avoid clickbait or exaggeration.
  • Structure: A brief opening that tells the reader what the piece is about, followed by logical sections with simple subheadings.
  • Paragraphs: Short and easy to read on a phone.
  • File format: Send the article in the body of the email or as a Word or Google Docs document.
  • Images: Only send images that you own or have permission to use. Mention the credit and source. Please do not send images taken from other websites.

Author Information

With your submission, please include:

  • Your full name
  • A short bio of two or three lines, describing your background and why you are qualified to write on the subject
  • Your email address, and a phone number if you wish
  • Any relevant link to your previous work, if you have one

Please be honest in your bio. Do not claim credentials or experience you do not have. If your article is published, we may publish your name and short bio with it.

Commercial and Promotional Content

SRA News is not a platform for paid promotion. We do not publish articles whose main purpose is to advertise a product, service, business, person or organisation.

If you have a commercial or personal connection to the subject, such as being employed by the company, being paid for the article, or having a financial interest, you must tell us when you submit. Such a connection does not always rule out an article, but undisclosed conflicts do. We may decline a submission or add a disclosure for readers.

We do not charge fees for reviewing or publishing submissions, and we do not accept payment for publication.

Links and References

Links should serve the reader. Use them to point to a source, a document or further reading that supports what you have written.

  • Links may be reviewed for relevance, usefulness and editorial suitability, and we may remove, change or add links as we see fit
  • We do not promise any particular type of link, link placement, how long a link will remain, or any benefit to your website’s search ranking
  • Promotional, affiliate or commercially motivated links must be disclosed, and may not be accepted
  • Please do not include links to your own or a client’s website unless they are directly relevant and useful to the article

If your main reason for writing to us is to obtain a link, this is not the right place.

Prohibited Content

We will not accept:

  • Plagiarised content, or copied or rewritten articles
  • Misleading information or fake news
  • Spam, mass-produced or template-style submissions
  • Excessively promotional articles or hidden advertising
  • Adult or sexually explicit content
  • Illegal content, or content that encourages illegal acts
  • Harmful, deceptive, defamatory or hateful content
  • Articles created mainly to improve search rankings, including keyword-stuffed writing
  • Content with undisclosed commercial conflicts of interest

AI-Written Content Is Not Accepted

SRA News does not accept articles that are written by AI tools. The article you send us must be written by you, in your own words, from your own knowledge, research and judgment.

Please do not submit text generated by an AI tool, whether it is a full article, large sections, or an AI-written draft that has been lightly edited. Submissions that appear to be written this way may be declined.

Minor assistance, such as a spelling or grammar check, is fine, as long as the article remains your own work. You remain fully responsible for everything you submit, including its accuracy, originality, sourcing and the final text. By submitting an article, you confirm that it is your own writing and that it meets this requirement.

Editorial Review

Sending an article does not guarantee that it will be published. Every submission is reviewed by us, and the decision is made at our editorial discretion, based on relevance, quality, accuracy, originality and fit with SRA News.

We may:

  • Accept the article
  • Reject it
  • Edit it for clarity, accuracy, language or legal reasons
  • Shorten or restructure it
  • Ask you for changes, clarifications or sources
  • Update it after publication where necessary

We cannot commit to a fixed response time, and we may not be able to reply individually to every submission. If you have not heard from us after a reasonable period, you are free to submit the piece elsewhere, though we would ask you to let us know first.

Editing and Rejection Rights

By submitting an article, you confirm that you own the work and have the right to submit it, and you give SRA News permission to review, edit and, if accepted, publish it on our website and related channels. You continue to own your writing. If we decide not to publish it, we will not use it.

We may decline a submission without giving detailed reasons. We may also remove or amend a published contribution if we later find a problem with accuracy, originality, rights or a conflict of interest. Published contributors are expected to cooperate with correction requests.

How to Submit

  1. Read this page and our Editorial Policy.
  2. Send your article, or a short pitch if you would like to check interest first, to sranewspost@gmail.com.
  3. Use the subject line “Submission: [Your Article Title]” or “Pitch: [Your Topic]”.
  4. In the email, include your name, short bio, the article or pitch, your sources, any images with credits, and a note of any commercial or personal connection to the subject.
  5. We will review it and get back to you if we wish to take it forward.

Please send one article per email, and avoid sending the same piece to several addresses.
